Guidelines/Forms for Program Funding and Incentive Funds
DFEE Program Funding
The DFEE MISSION: The Durango Foundation for Educational Excellence is a community organization of dedicated volunteers who develop resources to encourage and recognize educational improvement and excellence for all students in Durango School District 9-R.
Applications for DFEE funding will be accepted that help improve effective instruction including, but not limited to, the following:
- Accelerated Programs
- Enrichment Programs
- Programs for disadvantaged/challenged students
- Programs are eligible for a maximum of two years funding.
- Programs that meet the DFEE guidelines should take place before, during, or after school and fall outside the possibilities of the Durango School District 9-R budget.
- Programs should be identified and endorsed as a priority by the schools through administration/teacher/student/parent collaboration.
- Proposals from outside agencies are not considered.
- DFEE funding is intended for programs and materials and not for salaries.
- Programs should be based on accepted research and should be student focused.
- Programs should impact as many students as possible.
- Programs may be directed initially to one level of grades (K-5, middle school, high school) or multi-level (K-12)
- A detailed budget must accompany the proposal and will typically reflect a budget from $2,000 - $40,000.
- The program will be formally evaluated by the end-users. The DFEE will require mid- term progress reports and end- of- year reports. See attached evaluation forms as Exhibit “A” and “B.” These reports are to be sent to the DFEE office. Please note that failure to submit program evaluations by the required deadlines may result in a delay in funding of the programs.
- Funding for programs will be evaluated annually by the DFEE Funding Committee.
- The program/project selected for funding must be marketable to the community because DFEE relies on community support.
These guidelines may be updated from time to time.

DFEE Incentive Program
DFEE provides monies district-wide in Incentive Funding annually in addition to the other forms of DFEE programs, scholarship and pass-through support. This money is distributed in October each year through 9-R Finance and is appropriated to each school, the amount is based on student population. No school receives less that $500.00.
Most schools are ALREADY utilizing these funds for character building, ethic and/or positive behavior and good citizenship reinforcement projects.
In order for the funds to be distributed to your school in a timely fashion, please fill out and return the attached information by October 1, 2009, to include a very brief statement on the intended use of your incentive funds for the 2009/2010 school year.
Also, a short report is due at the end of each school year. Please know that the reports, as well as any publicity that you give the organization about how these funds are used are crucial in order for DFEE to continue to maintain and increase the DFEE funding levels that benefit your schools.
