The History of DFEE

DFEE has a history of success and accomplishment. The organization has been serving the students and teachers of the Durango School District 9-R since 1984 at the time of its inception. Though DFEE was established in order to support educational excellence specifically for the students in the district, DFEE operates independent form the Durango School District 9-R as a charitable non-profit organization.
With educational needs ever increasing, DFEE set goals to expand the funding provided for programs in order to meet the expressed needs of teachers, students, and parents in the district. This goal was achieved. For the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 school years, DFEE garnered community support to provide over $100,000 in program support for crucial educational projects and programs and is committed to maintain and increase this level of funding.
An additional $10,000 was provided annually district-wide for learning incentive programs that motivate students toward a life-long love of learning, ethics, integrity and character building. Through the expressed needs of the teachers and supported by the district administration, DFEE would like to increase the funding provided to support ethics curriculum and character building programs that are already in place and operating with successful outcomes. Other programs funded include the rebirth of the foreign language programs at the middle school level, music technology, and after school programs for minority and disadvantaged students at the middle school level that support student progress in areas of science and technology.
