Ski for Education Supports DFEE

Ski for Education Celebrates 10 Years

January 21, 2013 dawned bright and clear--the perfect weather for Durango Mountain Resort to welcome skiers with discount lift tickets for a day supporting Durango's public schools, students and teachers. The 10th annual Ski for Education Day raised money for Durango School District 9-R through DFEE, plus Animas High and Mountain Middle schools.

Teamwork was the key to a successful day. We had a host of helpers: Our elegant banner was sponsored by Community Banks of Colorado and created with remarkable speed by FastSigns. PJ's Gourmet Market and Four Corners Broadcasting sponsored radio spots and the live remote. Our ticket vendors made sales easy: North and South City Markets, Albertson's, Nature's Oasis, PJ's Gourmet Market and (in Farmington) Three Rivers Brewery and Zia Sporting Goods. Several radio stations generously carried our public service announcements. The Durango Herald was diligent in publishing our news briefs, and countless locations in town allowed us “poster privileges.” Durango Mountain Resort makes this event a locals’ winter highlight and helps put a lot of fun in fundraising. Above all, the event wouldn’t happen without the community members who bought tickets and took a day off to enjoy the slopes in support of public education.

On behalf of Durango's public school teachers and students, we thank you all.
